- Q. What kind of images does it work best on?
- A. Portraits and product shots where the subject clearly contrasts with the background give the best results. Edges can be less accurate when subject and background are similar in colour, when hair or fur is intricate, or when semi-transparent materials such as glass or water are involved.
- Q. Why is the first run slow?
- A. Because your photo is never sent to a server, the AI runs inside your browser — which means the model file is downloaded once on first use. It is a large file, so this can take tens of seconds depending on your connection. After that it is cached and runs quickly.
- Q. Should I save as PNG, WebP, or JPG?
- A. Choose PNG to keep the background fully transparent, or WebP to keep transparency at a smaller file size. JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.
- Q. Can I replace the background with a different one?
- A. y2x takes you as far as a transparent PNG with the background removed. Save that PNG and place it over a new background in the editor of your choice.
- Q. Is it free? Is there a usage limit?
- A. It is free with no sign-up and no limit on how many images you process.
- Q. Is my original image stored on a server?
